Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). Two years later she became a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. In 1981, she began covering the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional Correspondent. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell hosted and participated as panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. She participated as a member of a panel discussion at the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in journalism. In 2004 The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering for the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. She has covered several notable stories over the years, including the tax reforms, budget reforms and the Iran Contra affair. She travelled frequently along with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
